Message from the Dean
Very warm greetings from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Pokhara University! 
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) at Pokhara University. As one of the four foundational faculties of the university, FHSS is dedicated to advancing knowledge in the humanities and social sciences through rigorous scholarship, innovative pedagogy, and impactful research, with a focus on sustainable development and social engineering.
Our mission is to cultivate a new generation of scholars, policymakers, development professionals, and social engineers equipped with the analytical rigor, interdisciplinary perspectives, and practical competencies required to address pressing global and local challenges. The faculty is committed to fostering intellectual curiosity, critical inquiry, and creative problem-solving through a robust academic environment that integrates theoretical depth with real-world applicability.
FHSS distinguishes itself through its engagement in cutting-edge research, the development of forward-looking curricula, and the organization of high-level academic discourse, including international conferences, seminars, and symposiums. Furthermore, our faculty actively contributes to policy dialogue and professional consultancy, collaborating with governmental and non-governmental institutions to bridge the gap between academia and practice.
Currently, FHSS offers a comprehensive suite of academic programs, including:
- Undergraduate Degrees: Bachelor of Development Studies (BDEVS), Bachelor of English and Communication Studies (BECS), Bachelor of Entrepreneurship Development (BED), and Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law (BALLB)
- Graduate Degrees: Master’s in Population, Gender and Development (MPGD), Master of Development Studies (MDEVS), Master of Arts in English (MA English), and Master of Philosophy in English (MPhil in English)
- Doctoral Degrees: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Humanities (Research only track), and Doctor of Philosophy in Development Studies (Coursework-Research track)
We take considerable pride in the accomplishments of our graduates, who have assumed leadership roles across academic, professional, and policy-making spheres. As the Dean, I am steadfast in my commitment to further elevating FHSS as a premier institution of Higher learning by enhancing curricular innovation, expanding research capabilities, fostering international academic collaborations, and promoting faculty excellence.
