PURC runs various research and capacity building programs independently and in collaboration with various collaborating institutions.
PURC provides research grants to the faculty members to promote applied research and innovation activities in the university. The research grants are provided in a competitive basis according to the PURC research grant procedures. PURC provides three types of research grants but the number of grants depends on the availability of the fund.
PURC conducts seminar series regularly to discuss contemporary topics among the relevant academic and professional audience. An expert speaker is invited for each seminar to share his/her presentation with the faculty members, students, and general audience.

NICHOD is a flagship program of National Young Academy of Nepal (NAYAN) and Pokhara University Research Centre (PURC) launched in 2022 and annually organized in collaboration with different supporting partner institutions. It is a national level competition of research students to present their research findings to the general audience in three minutes. The NICHOD competition is inspired from 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition initiated by the University of Queensland, Australia where graduate (master and PhD) students present their research in the minutes annually. In Nepal, NICHOD has been extended to undergraduate students in addition to the graduate students. NICHOD encourages and trains students to effectively explain their research findings among the audience beyond their subject domain in three minutes. With the main motto “Research for Social Impact”, NICHOD aims to bridge the gap between scientists and the community while developing students’ skills in academic research, presentation, and communication. Further details are available at https://www.youngacademynepal.org.np/nichod-overview.
