Pokhara University signs MOU with UNDP

Pokhara University signs Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)  with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nepal for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the Agenda 2030. The MOU was signed by Ayshanie Medagangoda-Labe, Resident Representative one behalf of UNDP Nepal, and Prof. Dr. Prem Narayan Aryal, Vice Chancellor on behalf of Pokhara University. At the MOU signing ceremony, Vice-chancellor Prof. Aryal and Medagangoda-Labe also expressed their commitments to work together for the development and promotion of quality education.

The purpose of this MOU is to provide a framework for the non-exclusive cooperation and facilitate and strengthen collaboration between the Parties in the areas of common interest particularly for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Parties wish to promote the Sustainable Development Goals particularly SDG 1 (no poverty), SDG 2 (zero hunger), SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 10 (reduce inequality), SDG 13 (climate action), SDG 16 (promote peace and inclusive societies), and SDG 17 (partnership for the goals).

The MoU signing ceremony was organized by the Pokhara University Research Center, which was Conducted online between two parties.

The Parties agree to cooperate in the following areas of activities for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals:

  1. Collaborate to establish central research facility (the global standard advanced research laboratories) and Center of excellence for higher degree research and education related to SDGs.
  2. Collaborate to initiate professional Master and Doctoral level programs addressing SDGs targets.
  3. Facilitate exchange of professors, administration staffs and students for capacity enhancement trainings/workshops.
  4. Support research and innovation activities through research grants and fellowships to professors, researchers, and students with particular focus on Leave No One Behind (LNOB).
  5. Facilitate partnership with national and international academia, research, and humanitarian agencies to work together for achievement of SDGS in Nepal.
  6. Collaborate to promote gender equality, diversity and prevent all forms of discrimination.

Ceremony was completed in the presence  of Associate Prof. Dr. Dipak Bahadur Bhandari, Registrar of Pokhara University; Associate Prof. Dr. Amar Nagila, Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences of Pokhara University; Associate Prof. Dr. Ram Prasad Aryal, School Director, School of Development and Social Engineering, Pokhara University and Executive authorities, Faculty Members, Students, and Staffs of Pokhrara University and UNDP Team. The Ceremony was moderated by Binda Magar, Advisor (Gender and Social Inclusion) on behalf of UNDP Nepal and Associate Prof. Dr. Namraj Dhami, Executive Director Pokhara University Research Center on behalf of Pokhara University.
