RISK-e-SCAPE Pilot Begins in Nepal & Bangladesh

The RISK-e-SCAPE Short Course piloting on “Improving Disaster Health & Climate Resilience in the Expanded Environmental Crisis in Nepal and Bangladesh” was successfully conducted from 23rd to 27th March, 2026, at the Provincial Center for Disease Control (PCDC), Pokhara.
RISK-e-SCAPE is an international capacity-building initiative co-funded by the European Union. The project aims to strengthen resilience against disaster and climate-related health challenges by promoting multi-professional and multidisciplinary collaboration among Asian and European partners.

The training was designed as a comprehensive learning program across 8 modules, integrating:
•⁠ ⁠Interactive lectures and expert-led discussions
•⁠ ⁠Practical sessions and group-based activities
-Real-life case analysis and scenario-based learning
-Participant feedback and reflective learning throughout the course

The program was facilitated by a team of experts led by Prof. Dr. Bishnu Raj Tiwari (Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences), along with Associate Prof. Dr. Amar Nagila, Assistant Professor Sushila Baral, Assistant Professor Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yadu Nath Baral (PAHS), Mr. Navraj Bhandari (NRRS), Mr. Bijay Rai (KOSHIS Nepal), and Major General Bholanath Thapa (Western Division HQ, Nepali Army).

A total of 27 participants actively engaged and contributing to knowledge sharing and multidisciplinary collaboration. The event was observed by Mr. Manmohan Mishra, Director General, PCDC Pokhara, who attended as the Chief Guest.This pilot training marks an important step toward strengthening regional capacity and fostering collaboration to address emerging public health challenges related to climate change and disasters.
