On Monday, December 22, 2025, Pokhara University organized a special guest lecture featuring Prof. Xun Zhan from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). The lecture, titled “Dialogue Across Himalayas: Cross-Cultural Communication between Nepal & China,” provided students with a profound look into the strengthening ties between the two neighboring nations.
The visiting professor was welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Er. Buddhi Raj Joshi, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology joined by other faculty members of school of development and social sciences at Pokhara University. During her presentation, Prof. Zhan emphasized the vital role that cross-cultural relationships play in fostering international harmony. She spoke at length about the rich cultural heritage of China, drawing parallels and highlighting distinctions between Chinese and Nepali traditions. Her lecture focused on the necessity of building deep-rooted relationships based on a foundation of mutual understanding and respect for each other’s unique cultural identities.
Beyond cultural exchange, Prof. Zhan also highlighted the growing academic opportunities for Nepalese students in China. She provided valuable information regarding higher education prospects, scholarship pathways, Student exchange programs and the academic environment at UESTC. Students from various faculties attended the session. The lecture concluded with an interactive session between the participants and the visiting professor. To conclude the formal proceedings, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bal Ram Bhattarai, Co-Ordinator of MBA program at Pokhara university, presented a token of love to Prof. Zhan as a gesture of appreciation for her insightful and enlightening lecture.
