MOU between Pokhara University & Arizona State University

On October 28, 2013 Pokhara University and Arizona State University entered into a formal relationship by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Khagendra Prasad Bhattarai signed the document on behalf of Pokhara University and Elizabth D. Phillip signed the document on behalf of Arizona State University. In particular both institutions agree to identify opportunity for exchange of faculty and research staff.

Further, the agreement emphasized on joint research programs and projects. To lend advice,  technical support and services from either side and to educate personnel through sabbaticals, short stays, seminars, course and worksops are some of the main points of aggreeement. The MoU focused on exchange program  to  promote academic and research activities conjointly in order to exploit the opportunities for mutual benefit of both the institutions. Executive Director of International Center, Mr. Purna Chandra Sharma, Deputy Controller Mr. Dipendra Yadhav, administrative staffs and Dr. Marek Wosinski from ASU were present in the signing ceremony.

Student Exchange Program between PU and Arizona State University

On October 29, 2013 a meeting was held with Dr. Marek Wosinski, the facilitator of University -Community Partnership for Social Action Research (UCP-SARnet) and also a senior sustainability  scientist from Arizona State University. Executive Director of International Center, Mr. Purna Chandra Sharma, Direcotor of School of Social Engineering, Dr. Ananta Dhungana and faculty member Mr. Dipak Paudel were present during the meeting. In May 2014, twenty students and three Professors from Arizona State University(ASU) are going to visit Pokhara University for a week. The meeting explored the main activities to be carried out when students  from ASU arrives at Pokhara University next year. The meeting focused on issues like agribusiness, women empowerment, cross-cultural management  and formation of student clubs. In the mean time regional  coordinator of UCPSARnet’s,  Mr. Silash Ngahane will be here as an intern at Pokhara University from 2013 November onwards  for a period of one month to make a detail work plan of the exhange program for students from ASU.
