Pokhara University is located at Khudi, Dhungepatan, Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City of Kaski district, thirteen (13) kilometers east from Pokhara city. Keeping in mind the wish and aspiration of local people of Pokhara to establish a university in their locality, intellectuals, professors, businessmen and entrepreneurs had put forward the idea of establishing the university in 1968 AD, but it was established only in 1997 under Pokhara University Act, 1997. The idea of setting up the university got further consolidated after Sishuwa Adarsha Gaun Panchayat promised to provide the land for the university. Sishuwa Gaun Panchayat and Rupakot Panchayat had agreed to provide 2740 ropanis of land for the university then. University has received Land Ownership of 1,373 ropanis land from the Government of Nepal for its academic activities.
